How Does a Medical Background Investigation Work?
There are many cases where it is necessary to conduct a Medical Background Investigation. For instance, if a claimant has limitations that do not appear to be connected with his or her accident, then it may be a good idea to conduct an investigation. Delays and gaps in treatment may also be a reason to consider an investigation into a claimant’s medical records.
Social media information can also help with an investigation. We look at check-ins, reviews, photographs, and status updates for the claimant as well as for their family members and friends. We can even uncover crucial information on the page of a claimant’s friend or family member.

Social media accounts provide detailed information on claimants – even if posts and accounts are private. Photos, check-ins and posts about activities can complement information obtained from a Medical Background Investigation. For instance, photographs could show a person who claims to have severe physical limitations from an accident performing a physically-demanding activity. This is just one example.
Check-ins may also be important. If a person’s claim argues that he or she suffers from a severe physical limitation, but checks in at the gym, this information could be useful for mounting a defense against the claim.
